Welcome to AVMRA 9!
Everyone is welcome to check out our meetings on the 3rd Sunday of the month at the Valparaiso VFW post 998 at 1pm! As we steadily grow, we will be hosting many events to help the Veterans and Soldiers in the Valparaiso area. Our Board of Directors are working hard to set a strong foundation for our chapter to build on. Our Board of Directors are experienced and committed to helping our local veterans. 

BECOMING A CHAPTER 9 MEMBER

Joining AVMRA 9 is not an easy process. We are not looking to build a large membership. We are instead focusing on keeping our chapter like a family with the idea that a few people who work together and can depend on each other will get more accomplished than a large group. We will from time to time bring someone into the chapter but only when we are certain this person will be a good fit with the rest of the chapter. Because we are not trying to put together a large membership, we are able to be very selective over who we bring into AVMRA 9.

You must be invited to join. This does not mean you can come up to a member and say, "hey I want to join. Invite me." The invitation has to come from the entire chapter. In order to be invited we all must  get to know you. This helps us keep cohesion within the group. So to earn an invitation, come to our meetings. Ask to be informed of our events, and when we have events show up and help out. If we see you are interested in us for the right reasons and are willing to make a commitment to helping us, we will make an effort to get to know you as well. If we are convinced you are right for us we will invite you. The time it will take to earn an invitation will vary depending on how well you already know our members and the organization.

If you are invited to join and accept you will be given a set of by-laws which will explain the rest of the process to join us.

If you are already a member of AVMRA in a different chapter and wish to transfer you will have to go threw the same procedure as everyone else. The fact that you get along well with members of your chapter does not guarantee you will work well with ours. So you will still have to associate with us, so we all get to know each other before you will be invited to transfer.
